This quotation from Montesquieu’s “The Spirit of Laws” highlights: the beneficial effects of trade between people: the maintenance of peace, communication, and exchanges, not only of goods, but also of cultures and ideas.
The rebirth of Montesquieu’s vineyard and the wines of Château de La Brède is the perfect illustration: a new wine for wine enthusiasts to enjoy and above all, a new wine to bring to the market. We needed a showcase and a means to communicate, an opportunity for our visitors to discover a story that is little known to the general public and yet so fascinating: the story of Montesquieu the Philosopher Winemaker.
It is in this spirit that we created our website: it is, we hope, an excellent showcase for the wines and, for the visitor, a place to learn about an interesting facet of the life of the greatest writer of the Age of Enlightenment.
