An exceptional terroir that has all the qualities necessary to produce great Graves.
Located in the Graves appellation, next to Pessac Léognan, Montesquieu’s vineyard benefits from an exceptional terroir. The soil consists of a hilltop with various depths of dry gravel on top of a very deep layer of clayey gravel, that brings minerality and richness to the wines. Protected from the wind by the surrounding forest, the six hectares of vines enjoy a temperate climate, ideal for producing wines with the elegance that is characteristic of Bordeaux. Dominique Haverlan applies modern, environmentally friendly techniques in order to extract the best from this magnificent terroir. Respect for the soil, controlled yields, careful determination of optimum ripeness, vinification on a plot by plot basis, with wines made in wood and matured on the lees…
These exacting methods have one objective: « to produce an expression of Graves’ superb terroir. »
