Vinification: La Brède Rouge wines are entirely vinified in 500 litre barrels. After alcoholic fermentation they macerate for between 15 and 20 days with gentle manual pumping over. The wines are then drawn off and returned to the same barrels for malolactic fermentation and then for maturing.
Maturing: 18 months in new 500 litre oak barrels. 100% French oak.
Service: between 16 and 18 °C. Should be decanted in younger years.
Ageing potential: 10 to 15 years.
Enjoying & Sharing
Tasting notes: an intense deep red colour, La Brède Rouge presents aromas of well-ripened black fruit in its youth, embellished with toasted, spicy notes. The palate reveals a splendid, powerful, full-bodied structure, which demands a few years of patience before revealing all of its generosity and voluptuousness.
Food & wine pairing: the power and generosity of La Brède Rouge calls for dishes in the same vein: shoulder of lamb with herbs, game in sauce or more simply, an entrecote steak grilled over vine cuttings and served with a shallot and red wine sauce.
